Maggie is a first year PhD student in the LSAP program. She obtained her BS and BA in psychology and philosophy, respectively, from Jacksonville University and her MA in Social Sciences, psychology concentration, from the University of Chicago. Before she moved to Pittsburgh, she worked at the Florida Institute of Education in Jacksonville, FL, focusing on effective early childhood instruction and policy for diverse populations of children across Florida. Maggie is interested in researching how social-psychological and contextual factors impact instruction and learning, particularly with regard to teacher beliefs and student motivation to learn. Other interests include cultural psychology and equity issues related to race and gender identities. She loves travelling, yoga, science fiction, cats, tennis, skiing, hiking, and exploring Pittsburgh (or anywhere for that matter) via bicycle.
